Continual Support Program

Continual Support is a FREE comprehensive program for students who identify as having a disability and are registered with Student Accessibility Services at Buffalo State University. Continual Support is designed to be an academic year in length.

The Continual Support Program is tailored to meet the individual academic and/or social needs and goals of motivated students to increase success in all areas of student ability; specifically executive functioning growth and social skills building. Continual Support has shown to increase confidence and participation in the larger campus community.

Continual Support is a student-driven program where students work with the Learning and Accommodations Specialist and their team, to identify and select appropriate and attainable goals each semester to create their Personal Learning Plan based in the idea of self-advocacy. Students then participate in individualized meetings designed to target and develop new or incomplete skill sets.

Continual Support offers opportunities for students to engage in self-advocacy; negotiating experiences; utilizing university resources and supports including their accommodations; engaging in clubs and organizations; communication with Instructors, staff, and peers; and navigating new and challenging situations just to name a few. Students also attend our workshop series with presenters and campus partners in all areas of student support.

Continual Support is traditionally offered over the course of one academic year during the fall and spring semesters. Individualized meetings differ for students based on their semester in the program. Continual Support is available for new, transfer, and returning students at the university regardless of the semester they are starting in.

Please see the options below for more information, including the student application to Continual Support.
